Gemalto cancels 3.3% of its share capital

Gemalto (Euronext NL0000400653 - GTO), the world leader in digital security today announces that the cancellation of 3,000,000 of its treasury shares, approved by the general meeting of shareholders of May 14, 2008 and corresponding to 3.3% of the then issued share capital, became effective as of July 24th 2008.

As a result, the total number of Gemalto shares issued is now 88,015,844.At July 24th 2008, after the cancellation, Gemalto's holding of its own shares in treasury was 4,544,478 shares, corresponding to 5.2% of the company's issued share capital. The number of Gemalto shares in circulation on that date, i.e. after the cancellation, was hence 83,471,366.
